Improve your home energy efficiency with a heat pump hot water system
Water heating can use up to 40% of an average home’s energy. Renewable energy sources that heat household water can reduce your energy bills and minimise the environmental impact of your home. This is why heat pumps complement a solar PV system.
When you buy a heat pump hot water system from The Energy People, you are taking the next step towards renewable energy for your home.
As a more energy and cost efficient way to heat your water, heat pump hot water systems qualify for the ACT Government’s Sustainable Household Scheme.

How Does a Heat Pump System Work?
Hot water heat pump systems work much the same as a reverse cycle air conditioning system, in that they use the thermal energy available in the air to transfer heat to water rather than generating heat directly.
The heat pump draws heat from the ambient air through an evaporator. Thermal energy in the air is transferred to the liquid refrigerant, changing it to gas. The gas is compressed, increasing the pressure and temperature. The gas then transfers its heat to the water tank which heats the water.
Hot water heat pumps will work any time of the year in the Canberra region’s climate.
